Resumen: Mitochondrial fission is essential for proper organelle localization and function. Recent studies have shown that following ER-mitochondria contact, INF2-dependent actin polymerization promotes mitochondrial constriction in situ. Subsequent assemble of Drp1 rings around constricted mitochondrion ensures the decrease of tubule diameter, allowing Dynamin 2 to achieve mitochondrial scission. However, neither the specific actin structures implicated nor the regulatory pathways governing these processes have been elucidated. Here, we show a novel Cdc42 signaling pathway which involves Arp2/3-WASp-Cortactin-Dynamin 2 that regulates mitochondrial fission in mouse embryonic fibroblast.
